Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has urged Bangladesh expatriates to come up with their investment in the country's 100 economic zones alongside foreign investors. Prime Minister made the call while inaugurating the two-day Convention on Non-Resident Bangladeshi Engineers at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in the city yesterday. The Prime Minister said, NRB engineers can play role in overcoming the policy and institutional levels challenges to expedite the country’s ongoing development.

A delegation of German Parliament led by its Vice President Claudia Roth called on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her Jatiya Sangsad office yesterday. While exchanging views the PM sought German coperation in carrying out extensive research on saving arable land while constructing infrastructures including power plants in energy sector.

Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury has urged the newly elected lawmakers to work for the welfare of the country. The Speaker made the call while inaugurating two-day long orientation programme for the lawmakers at the Jatiya Sangsad yesterday.The Speaker in her address lauded the role of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in practicing parliamentary democracy in the country.

Information Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud has said, the government has taken initiative to implement the ninth wage board award for journalists.The Minister said this while responding to a question in the Jatiya Sangsad yesterday. Replying to another question the Information Minister said, there are a total of 2,654 newspapers, including dailies, weeklies, quarterlies and monthlies in the country.

Law Minister Anisul Huq has said, the government has initiated a project to digitize the courts and relevant departments to expedite delivery of justice to litigants and reduce case backlog. The Minister said this while addressing the inaugural ceremony of e-filing at the Solicitor Department in Dhaka yesterday.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque has sought global support to fully achieve SDGs in health sector. The Minister made the appeal while addressing the closing ceremony of the ministerial summit of the 4th Global Digital Health Partnership in New Delhi yesterday.

Russian Ambassador to Bangladesh Alexander Ignatov called on Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi at his ministry in Dhaka yesterday. While exchanging views the Minister said, Bangladesh can increase the export volume of readymade garments, sea food, potato and pharmaceuticals to the Russian market.

Planning Minister M A Mannan has said, all the UN agencies in Bangladesh are delighted over the GDP growth attained by the country over the past few years with 7.86 per cent in last fiscal. The Planning Minister said this while talking to reporters after a delegation of the UN representatives led by UN Resident Coordinator Mia Seppo met him at his ministry in Dhaka yesterday.

The Saudi government has approved Bangladesh's five-point proposal for the welfare of its hajj pilgrims. The Saudi approval was given in a meeting of a Bangladeshi delegation led by State Minister for Religious Affairs Sheikh Md. Abdullah and Saudi Minister for Hajj and Umrah Mohammad Saleh bin Taher Benten at his ministry in Mecca on February 24.

Passengers will have to carry photo IDs while travelling to local destinations by air. The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh issued the instruction yesterday. Valid passports, NID cards, driving licences, student IDs and office IDs will have to be shown while collecting boarding cards.
