The 21st session of the 10th Jatiya Sangsad will begin on June 5 next. President Md. Abdul Hamid has summoned the session yesterday.

Ambassadors of United Arab Emirates and Afghanistan to Bangladesh separately presented their credentials to President Md. Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban yesterday. The two envoys are Saed Mohammed Saed Hamid Almheiri of UAE and Abdul Qayoom Malikzad of Afghanistan.

President Md. Abdul Hamid, in a message, has felicitated Prime Minister and Bangladesh Awami League President Sheikh Hasina on her 38th 'Homecoming Day' and praised her contribution to country's democracy, development and public welfare through epoch-making programmes.

Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Choudhury and leaders of 14-Party combine led by its convener Mohammad Nasim greeted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on successful launching of Bangabandhu Satellite-1by presenting her flowers bouquet at Gonobhaban yesterday.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has directed the police force to provide proper service to people according to their expectation. The PM gave the directive while addressing the passing-out parade of the 35th BCS batch of assistant superintendents of police at the Bangladesh Police Academy at Sarda yesterday.

The holy month of Ramadan will begin from tomorrow in the country. The National Moon Sighting Committee last evening took the decision in a meeting with Religious Affairs Minister Principal Motiur Rahman presiding over.

Chairperson of the National Advisory Committee on Autism Saima Wazed Hossain has laid emphasis on incorporating mental healthcare in disaster management plan to provide more support to the traumatized people during both the humanitarian crisis and natural calamities. She said this while conducting a session on the 2nd day of International Conference on Disability and Disaster Risk Management yesterday.

The Information Ministry has appealed to the mass media to refrain from publishing or propagating any material undermining or ridiculing the physically and mentally challenged people. The Ministry issued a letter in this regard.

An 11-membar committee has been formed to improve the standard of diagnosis system of diagnostic centres and also monitor the cost of pathological tests in those outlets for ensuring better health services. Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammed Nasim formed the committee headed by Additional Secretary (Hospital) at a meeting yesterday.

Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Zhang Zuo has said, China would impart trainings to 1000 teachers of technical educational institutions next one year. He made the comment when a fourmember delegation led by the Ambassador called on Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid at his office yesterday.

The government of Bangladesh and the World Bank signed a financing agreement yesterday. The WB would provide $110 million to help about 20,000 microenterprises to adopt cleaner technologies according to the agreement.

DSEX, the key index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange, lost 0.66 per cent, or 37.13 points, to close at 5,511.76 points yesterday.
