Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina extended thanks to all political parties for their decision to take part in the upcoming polls. The Premier conveyed her felicitations while chairing a meeting of Awami League Parliamentary Nomination Board at the AL’s central office at Bangabandhu Avenue in Dhaka yesterday. The Premier said, the government would remain careful so that everybody could get equal opportunity in the participatory election.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said, her government is aimed at ensuring the fairness of the upcoming elections to strengthen the democracy and intensify the development process. The Premier said this as the Bangladesh Awami Jubo League leaders and workers called on her on the occasion of the front’s 46th founding anniversary at Ganabhaban yesterday.

Chief Election Commissioner K M Nurul Huda has said, the Election Commission will take the decision today whether the schedule for the 11th parliamentary elections will be shifted or not. The CEC said this to the media at Nirbachan Bhaban in Dhaka yesterday. Earlier, the opposition alliance led by Dr. Kamal Hossain while announcing its participation in the upcoming election called for the polls to be delayed by a month.

The Election Commission will brief the Returning Officers and Assistant Returning Officers tomorrow on the law and order centering the upcoming national election. The EC will give them directives on law and other issues at a workshop at the Electoral Training Institute in the city’s Agargaon area.

A fair on the use of EVMs in the elections is being held at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the Capital today. The Election Commission has invited political parties to visit the fair and examine the EVMs by their technical teams if they want.

The interview of nomination seekers of Awami League will be held on November 14 while aspirants can collect and submit nomination forms by 6 pm today. Meanwhile, Bangladesh ODI Cricket Captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza yesterday collected a nomination form to contest in the Narail-2 Constituency from Awami League.
