Birth Registration Certificate (BRC) Application & Correction:
Before applying, please read all instructions and application guidelines thoroughly.
Who can Apply?
- The applicant must be Bangladeshi origin national (by birth or descendant or new born) living in United Kingdom or Ireland having required documents to prove his/her Bangladeshi origin.
- The applicant who wants to apply for a Bangladeshi E-Passport and Bangladeshi National ID Card.
- Those who already have digital BRC or applied for digital BRC in Bangladesh will not be qualified to apply in the High Commission.
Required Documents
Those who born in Bangladesh:
- A printed copy of the application completed online (Available at https://bdris.gov.bd/br/application)
- A photocopy of Bangladeshi passport or NID card
- Those who do not have Bangladeshi passport or NID card but holding Bangladeshi old Birth Certificate or Educational Certificate can apply here along with the Nationality Certificate obtained from local office in Bangladesh
- A recent passport size photo (attach photo with glue on the application form)
Those who born in the UK/Ireland:
- A printed copy of the application completed online (Available at https://bdris.gov.bd/br/application)
- A photocopy of the British/Irish Birth Certificate where parents name and details are included
- A photocopy of Parents’ Bangladeshi Passport/ Bangladeshi National ID Card
- A recent passport size photo (attach photo with glue on the application form)
Please bring the photocopy of all supporting documents along with the application form
BRC Application Process
- Step 1: Applicants must lodge their application online. Please apply online at https://bdris.gov.bd/br/application
- Step 2: Documents Submission: Applicant or representative must submit the documents at the counter on any working day between 10:30 am to 12:30 pm or 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm without appointment.
- Step 3: Payment: The £4.00 non-refundable fee will be collected over the counter through bank card.
- Step 4: Ready and Collection: The applicant will get a delivery date after submitting documents at the High Commission. The processing time for BRC is 5-7 Working days. Delivery time: 2:00pm to 4:00 pm on any working day.
Other General Instructions
- Only new BRC applicants can apply; existing 17digit BRC holders registered in Bangladesh will not be able to correct their BRC from the High Commission.
- The applicant needs both Bangla and English font to fill up the application form.
- While filling-up the online application form, PLEASE PUT THE PERMANENT ADDRESS IN BANGLADESH (Not foreign permanent address).
- The applicant born in Bangladesh needs to upload 02 Bangladeshi documents and the applicant born in the UK/Ireland needs to upload both British/Irish Birth Certificate and father or mother’s Bangladeshi document (passport/NID) on the online portal.
- If necessary documents are not uploaded during the online application process, the application will be rejected.
- Use only email to receive an OTP.
- Providing false information is a punishable offence.
Instructions for BRC Correction and Re-print:
- The applicant must reapply to correct the misspelled/uncorrected/missing portion or reprint. The hard copy and four pounds fee should then be submitted to the high commission in-person (applicant or representative can come). Please keep in mind that you must upload supporting documentation in support of the correction portion.

Note
- You may verify whether your existing birth certificate is digital or not from this link (https://everify.bdris.gov.bd/). If not, you may apply again for a 17-digit digital birth certificate.
- You can avail of Postal Service for BRC though it is a lengthy process. You may send all required documents by post along with paid return envelope and £4.00 Postal Order.
