A European Parliamentary delegation has highly praised Bangladesh’s impressive socioeconomic development particularly in women empowerment under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The delegation made the appreciation during a courtesy call on with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Ganabhaban yesterday.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has interacted with a diverse group of youths and listened to their dreams, hopes and aspirations as regards the course of future Bangladesh. The Awami League’s research wing, the Centre for Research and Information, organised the interaction 'Let’s Talk With Sheikh Hasina' on Friday.

Chief Election Commissioner K M Nurul Huda has said, level playing field for election is prevailing in the country while police and administration are working under the Election Commission. The CEC said this to the media after attending the inaugural function of a three-day briefing arranged for executive magistrates on electoral code of conduct at Nirbachan Bhaban in Dhaka yesterday. The election process is progressing appropriately as per the laws, the CEC added.

The Electronic Voting Machines will be used at all polling centers of six constituencies in the forthcoming general elections. The constituencies will be chosen via random selection. The results of the lottery will be announced on November 28.Election Commission Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed said this to the media at Nirbachan Bhaban in Dhaka yesterday.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has said, the list of grand alliance candidates would be announced by next two days, hinting the ruling party could retain 230 seats leaving the rest 70 to the other coalition partners. The Minister said this to the media emerging from separate meetings with several grand alliance partners at Awami League’s Bangabandhu Avenue central office yesterday.

Ruling Awami League will announce its election manifesto after the fixation of symbol for next Jatiya Sangsad polls slated for December 30. Party Presidium member Dr. Abdur Razzaque, the convener of an AL sub-committee for preparing the upcoming election manifesto, said this to the media yesterday.

The 47th National Cooperatives Day will be observed in the country today under the auspices of the Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Ministry. The theme of the year is ‘Let’s build cooperative-based society, ensure sustainable development.’ President Md. Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have issued separate messages greeting all co-operators on the eve of the day.

Bangladesh has proposed to make provisions for scholarships so that students and professionals from developing countries can do internship in the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW). Bangladesh Ambassador to the Netherlands Sheikh Mohammed Belal made the proposal during the recently held fourth review conference of the OPCW.

Individual taxpayers could submit their income tax returns till December 2 as the last date of submission, November 30, is a weekly holiday.
