The Jatiya Sangsad goes into its 20th session at 5 pm today. President Md. Abdul Hamid convened the session on March 21.

A meeting of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial Trust was held at Bangabandhu Bhaban at Dhanmondi in Dhaka yesterday. Chairperson of the trust and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presided over the meeting. The meeting reviewed the social welfare activities of the trust and decided to carry forward its different projects faster.

Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu has said, measurers have been taken to set up a modern  urea fertilizer factory in Palash of Narsingdi. The Minister said this while addressing at the AGM of Bangladesh Fertilizer Association in Dhaka yesterday. He said, the government has already set up Shahjalal Fertilizer Factory in Fenchuganj of Sylhet at a cost of Tk 4,847.45 crore, which is producing 500,000 tonnes of fertilizer annually.

Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed has said, Bhola will be one of the country's most developed districts in coming days as more industries and factories will be established there based on gas fields. He said this while addressing a women rally in Bhola yesterday.

Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury has said, participation of women in various sectors has greatly increased in the country. The Minister came up with the remarks at a discussion in Dhaka yesterday.                

Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu has said, the government is doing everything possible to ensure the best treatment for Khaleda Zia, who is in prison. Talking to BBC Bengali Service yesterday, he said, Sheikh Hasina's democratic government believes in the rights of prisoners and respects it.

Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq has said, the draft law for appointing judges in the higher court has been prepared and it would be sent to the cabinet for approval soon. Speaking at a function organized by the Bar Council to give certificates to the new lawyers in Dhaka yesterday the Minister said, the lawyers do not get retirement benefits. He declared to give Taka 40 crore for the lawyers' Benevolent Fund.

Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda has said, the commission would bring some changes in electoral code of conduct to create a level-playing field in case of holding election without dissolving the Jatiya Sangsad. He said this as he was speaking at a function at PIB in Dhaka yesterday.

Indian Foreign Secretary Vijay Keshav Gokhale arrives in Dhaka today on a two-day official visit. During his visit, Gokhale is likely to meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali.

Inspector General of the Indian Border Security Force PSR Anjaneyulu has said, his force is doing everything possible to reach the target of zero killing along its border with neighbouring Bangladesh. In 2016, nine were killed, in 2017, the number fell to three, none got killed till March in 2018 along the border under South Bengal Frontier, he added. He came up with the observation while talking to Bangladeshi media delegation yesterday at South Bengal Frontier Headquarters in Kolkata.

The NBR Chairman Md Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan has said, the government would try its best to keep the present interest rates of various savings schemes intact considering the desire and aspiration of the beneficiaries.  Mr Mosharraf said this while addressing the inaugural function of the Savings Week-2018 at NSC Tower in Dhaka yesterday.
