President Md. Abdul Hamid has asked the Bangladesh Army to be more capable through high quality trainings and hard working to face the challenges of the ultramodern technologies. The President gave the directive as he was addressing the reunion of the Corps of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers of Bangladesh Army at Saidpur cantonment yesterday. The President, in his address expressed the hope, the EME corps personnel would play a significant role in ensuring the overall development of the country.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has renewed her call to the international community for continuing its pressure on Myanmar to take back Rohingyas. The PM made the call when WHO-SEARO Regional Director Poonam Khetrapal Singh called on her at her office in Dhaka yesterday. Khetrapal Singh highly appreciated Bangladesh's response to the Rohingya crisis.

Lions Clubs International has honoured Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina with the ‘Medal of Distinction’ for her services to the forcefully displaced Rohingyas. Visiting Lions Clubs International President Dr Naresh Agarwal honoured the PM with the award at Ganabhaban yesterday.

The national security chiefs of the BIMSTEC countries met Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Ganabhaban yesterday. The Prime Minister, while exchanging views, stressed the need for signing some conventions of security cooperation among the member countries.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is visiting Thakurgaon today. During the visit, the PM is scheduled to address a public rally at Govt Boys' School ground where she would inaugurate 35 development projects and lay the foundation stones of 33 others.

Bangladesh's first communication satellite Bangabandhu-I is being transported from France to Florida of the United States today for launching to the orbit in the next month. Manufacturing Company Thales Alenia Space is shifting the satellite through a specialized cargo aircraft this morning. Project Director Mohammad Mesbahuzzaman talking to media said, the time of launching of the satellite will be informed within 3-4 days.

Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu has said, the media through illuminating society works as sentinel of democracy. The Minister said this while he was speaking at the founding anniversary of the daily Amader Shomoy in Dhaka yesterday.

A total of 13,11,457 examinees of 8,943 educational institutions will take part in the HSC and equivalent examinations which will begin on April 2. Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said this while addressing a press conference at his ministry yesterday.

Bangladesh and Japan have signed a MoU to conduct joint researches on mitigation of arsenic in drinking water. BCSIR and Japanese JDC Corporation inked the MoU in Dhaka yesterday.

BGB and Border Guard Police of Myanmar have completed a joint patrol in the Naf river aimed at keeping up the friendly relation between the two neighbouring countries.
