President Md. Abdul Hamid has urged the countrymen to continue their efforts for the development of the country. The President made the call while addressing a reception arranged in honour of him on being re-elected as the President of the country for the second consecutive time at Mithamain in Kishoreganj yesterday. The President in his address reiterated his request to all the country’s political parties to nominate efficient and honest candidates in all elections, including Jatiya Sangsad and local government polls. The President who is now on a five-day tour in Kishoreganj, yesterday inaugurated Itna Upazila Muktijouddha Command office and also attended some other programs.


Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said, Bangladesh being a leading contributor to the UN peacekeeping forces wants blue helmet missions’ reforms. The PM said this while addressing a high-level event on Action for Peacekeeping at the UN Headquarters arranged on the sideline of 73rd UN General Assembly. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres also spoke at the event held on Tuesday. The PM also addressed the World Economic Forum’s plenary session on that day. The PM in her speech urged the international community to ensure easy transfer of technology at low cost among the countries across the world to face the possible challenges during the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.


Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has accused Myanmar of finding new excuses to delay the return of the forcefully displaced Rohingyas who are now staying in Cox's Bazar. The Bangladesh leader made the accusation in an interview with Reuters in New York on Tuesday. The PM will address the 73rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly today between 7:30 pm and 8 pm (New York local time). The PM in her address is expected to place some specific proposals for resolving the Rohingya crisis.

Bangladesh and India have agreed to sign the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, a free trade agreement, to boost economic opportunities for two neighbouring countries. The agreement was reached as Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed and his Indian counterpart Suresh Prabhu held a bilateral meeting in Dhaka yesterday.
