The cabinet has approved in principle the draft of 'The Company (amendment) Law, 2018' incorporating a provision allowing formation of a 'one-man company'. The approval came after the regular cabinet meeting at Bangladesh Secretariat with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair yesterday. Meanwhile, the cabinet also gave a nod to a proposal for celebrating December 12 as the 'Digital Bangladesh Day' instead of the 'National Information & Communication Technology Day'.

Chief Election Commissioner K M Nurul Huda has asked the executive magistrates to perform their duties properly. The CEC gave the directive while briefing the executive magistrates at Nirbachan Bhaban in Dhaka yesterday.

The Election Commission has asked the authorities concerned to monitor the social media, including facebook and twitter, centering the upcoming elections to foil false propaganda. EC Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed said this to the media at Nirbachan Bhaban in Dhaka yesterday. Mobile operators, BTRC, NTMC and cyber crime unit of police will work round the clock in this regard.

The Electronic Voting Machines will be used in six constituencies in the 11th parliamentary elections. The constituencies are Dhaka-6 and 13, Chattogram-9, Rangpur-3, Khulna-2 and Satkhira-2. The commission chose the six parliamentary seats out of 48 through an open lottery in presence of the media yesterday.

Shaheed Dr. Milon Day is being observed across the country today commemorating the 28th martyrdom anniversary of Dr. Shamsul Alam Khan Milon. On the eve of the day, President Md. Graphic novel 'Mujib' based on autobiography of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman has been published in Japanese language with a view to portraying the life and works of Bangabandhu.

A two-member election expert mission comprising David Noel Ward and Eirini- Maria Gounari representing the European Union arrives today to monitor the situations before and after the national election scheduled to be held on December 30.
