President Md. Abdul Hamid has emphasised the need for more investment in people, their education and skill development to build human capital for the future. The President said this yesterday while delivering his speech on ‘Investment in a New Era of Globalization’ in Global Leaders Investment Summit in Geneva. President also urged all concerned to encourage the private sector to invest in the green and renewable energy by providing incentives and preferential treatments.

The ECNEC has approved a project to procure some 35 dredgers involving Tk 4,489.03 crore to keep up navigability in 100 major rivers across the country. The approval came from the ECNEC meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair yesterday. A total of 21 projects were approved involving an overall estimated cost of Tk 19,778.73 crore.

President Md. Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have wished continuous strengthening of the engagement of Bangladesh with the United Nations system. The President and the Premier made the wish in separate messages on the occasion of United Nations Day.

Parliament yesterday unanimously adopted a motion greeting Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for brightening Bangladesh's image abroad by winning two international awards recently for playing a humanitarian role in hosting Rohingyas. The Prime Minister received 'Humanitarian Award' from Inter Press Service News Agency and 'Special Distinction Awards for Leadership' from Global Hope Coalition during her recent visit to the USA to attend the 73rd session of the United National General Assembly.

The world's largest burn and plastic surgery institute named after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is set to be inaugurated today. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate the institute situated in the capital's Chankharpul area.

The newly constructed ‘Sheikh Hasina Parbotto Chattogram Complex’ at Baily Road in Dhaka will be inaugurated on October 28. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate the complex featuring the traditions and heritage of the hill tracts areas.

A book compiling poems on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is set to be unveiled today at a function in Bangla Academy in Dhaka. Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury will launch the book titled 'Peace and Harmony' is a compilation of poems by 71 renowned poets.
