Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has called upon all not to exert additional pressure on the tender-hearted children for studying instead of giving them education with joy. The PM made the urge while addressing a function marking the National Primary Education Week, 2019 at Bangabandhu International Conference Center in Dhaka yesterday.

The government is going to provide medical treatment free of cost at outdoors of all public hospitals and clinics across the country on March 17, marking the Birth Anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque has given direction to provide free treatment and take various programmes from the Health Ministry to observe the day.

The State of New York in the USA will observe September 25 as ‘Bangladeshi Immigrants Day’ every year from 2019. A resolution adopted by the State’s senate session to this end mentioned that Father of the Nation of Bangladesh Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, for the first time in its history, gave a speech in Bengali in the General Assembly of the United Nations on September 25, 1974.

Students Cabinet Elections will be held in the secondary schools and Dakhil Madrasas across the country today. Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni briefing media at his ministry yesterday on the occasion said, Students Cabinet Elections would contribute to further develop democratic norms in the country.

Finance Minister A H M Mustafa Kamal has asked the country’s banks to introduce the ‘Blockchain’ technology for reducing operating costs and ensuring security. The Minister made the call while addressing the ‘Janata Bank Annual Conference-2019’ in Dhaka yesterday.

Foreign Minister Dr. A K Abdul Momen has urged Belgium to continue to play leadership role in the European Union and the UN Security Council to mount persistent pressure on Myanmar for sustainable solution to the crisis. The Minister made the urge while Belgian Ambassador to Bangladesh, with residence in New Delhi, Francois Delhaye made a call on him in Dhaka yesterday.

Physicians at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore are taking preparations for conducting the bypass surgery Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader next week. Mr Quader who is improving gradually was shifted from ICU to cabin yesterday.

Deputy Minister of Education Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury has said, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has put the advancement of women at the heart of all development endeavours. The Deputy Minister said this while presenting Bangladesh's unprecedented achievements in women's empowerment at a high-level side event at the 63rd Commission on the Status of Women at UN Headquarters in New York yesterday. Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs Kamrun Nahar also attended the event.
