Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said, her government is committed to contain corruption for the development of the country. The Premier said this while holding a meeting with the officials of her office on the first day after taking oath as the Prime Minister for the third consecutive term. Earlier, the advisers of the Prime Minister and officials of the Prime Minister's Office greeted the Prime Minister with bouquets.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has stressed on the need for the participation of the Armed Forces in overall development of the country. The Premier made the emphasis while exchanging views with officials and employees of the Armed Forces Division at the Dhaka Cantonment yesterday. Earlier, the Premier paid rich tributes to the martyred members of Bangladesh Armed Forces on the occasion of the assumption of her office as the Premier for the fourth time.

Heads of Missions representing the OIC member countries have congratulated Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her new cabinet saying her party’s unprecedented victory in the 11th parliamentary election is a reflection of the last 10 years hard works for development. A delegation comprising Ambassadors and Chargé d' affaires of the OIC member countries greeted the Prime Minister handing over a bouquet to her at Ganabhaban yesterday. Meanwhile, the United Nations Office in Dhaka has expressed its readiness to work with the new government of Bangladesh.

Hungarian Prime Minister Victor Orban and Belarusian Prime Minister Sergei Rumas have congratulated Sheikh Hasina on her re-election as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh. In separate congratulatory messages, they assured of their commitment to continue to work in development of the economical, commercial and educational cooperation between Bangladesh and the two countries.

President Md. Abdul Hamid has urged physicians to ensure proper medical treatment to patients at lower cost. The President made the call when a delegation of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University led by Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Kanak Kanti Barua met him at Bangabhaban yesterday. The President while exchanging views, terming BSMMU a specialised and international-standard one, called upon the university authorities to take pragmatic steps to ensure proper treatment of various fatal diseases and conduct research on the diseases. Information Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud has thanked Dr. Kamal Hossain for realising the mistake that Oikyafront had made by incorporating Jamaat-e-Islami in the recent 11th parliamentary election. The Minister said this while talking to the media at his ministry yesterday. Dr. Hasan Mahmud further said, the Oikyafront will make another mistake if their elected candidates do not take the oath to join the Parliament.

Jatiya Oikya Front Convener Dr. Kamal Hossain has appreciated the decision of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to hold fresh talks with political parties, saying it is a positive step. Dr. Kamal said, his alliance will take a positive decision about joining the dialogue with the Prime Minister after discussions with their alliance partners.

Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei and first Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia Ivica Dacic have congratulated Dr. A K Abdul Momen on his appointment as the Foreign Minister of Bangladesh. In separate greetings, the Belarus and Serbia Foreign Ministers expressed their interest to strengthen their relations with Bangladesh in the coming days.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque has said, cancer hospitals would be set up at each division. The Minister said this while talking to Bangladesh Health Reporters’ Forum members at his ministry yesterday. A 10-bed kidney unit will be set up at all medical college hospitals and district sadar hospitals, he added.
