Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will lay the foundation stone of Super Specialised Hospital for critical patients at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University in Dhaka today. The construction work of the 1000-bed hospital has already been started.

 

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is to inaugurate the reopening of five-star hotel InterContinental Dhaka today. Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister A K M Shahjahan Kamal marking the reopening of the hotel InterContinental briefed the media yesterday.

 

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said, construction of 46.73 km Dhaka Elevated Expressway would be completed by 2020. The PM said this while responding to her question-answer session in the Jatiya Sangsad yesterday. A high powered team of PMO after monitoring the road traffic management in the capital made some directives and a monitoring cell has been formed to oversee the execution of those, the PM added.

 

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has suggested undertaking seven-point measures for stock market development, asking all concerned including the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission to play a due role in protecting the interest of the investors. The PM made the suggestion while addressing the silver jubilee celebration function of BSEC at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in Dhaka yesterday.

 

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has urged Indian businessmen to come up with more investment in Bangladesh for the mutual benefits of the two neighbouring countries. The PM made the urge while talking to a five-member delegation of the Indian Chamber of Commerce led by its President Rudra Chatterjee who called on her at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban office yesterday.

 

Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury has said, the rate of poverty has reduced to 22 per cent from 40 as a result of the various development works undertaken by the Awami League government in the last ten years. The Speaker said this while speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Textech Bangladesh International Expo at International Convention City Bashundhara in Dhaka yesterday.

 

The Parliament has passed the Barind Multipurpose Development Authority Bill, 2018. Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury yesterday moved the Bill in the Parliament aiming at expanding Barind territory and giving it a legal structure.

 

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has said, the proposed Road Transport Act 2018 will be placed before the Jatiya Sangsad on Sunday. The Minister said this while talking to the journalists after attending the board meeting of Dhaka Road Transport Coordination Authority at Nagar Bhaban in Dhaka yesterday.

 

Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan yesterday launched Software for Inland Ship Management System as part of government’s effort to modernise Department of Shipping. As a result of using the automated system, vessel owners now will be able to secure a survey certificate for their ships by applying online.

 

State Minister for Information Tarana Halim has said, the government has taken an initiative to set up a monitoring cell to detect rumours in different social networking sites. She said this while exchanging views with the journalists at her secretariat office in Dhaka yesterday. The cell will be in operation round-the-clock in Press Information Department (PID) and the concerned officials will discharge their duties for eight hours in three shifts, she added.
