Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has asked the members of Bangladesh Ansar and VDP to stay alert to check militancy, terrorism and drugs in the country. The Prime Minister gave the directive as she was addressing the 39th National Rally of Bangladesh Ansar and VDP at its academy at Shafipur in Gazipur yesterday. The Premier in her address urged the Bangladesh Ansar and VDP personnel to work together with hard labour and honesty to keep up the country’s development spree.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said, she will live at her village in Tungipara after retirement from politics. The Prime Minister said this in her speech after a spectacular cultural show at Bangladesh Ansar and VDP Academy at Shafipur yesterday. The Prime Minister pointing out her government’s initiatives for turning every village into a town said, her government wants the rural people would get all urban facilities.

Visiting Vice President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Shixin Chen has hoped that the world in next ten years would see a different Bangladesh under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The ADB President expressed the hope during a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her Sangsad Bhaban office in Dhaka yesterday. The Prime Minister while exchanging views sought support of the ADB to implement the ‘Delta Plan 2100’.

The Prime Ministers of Macedonia and Georgia have congratulated Sheikh Hasina on her reelection as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh for the fourth term. Macedonian Prime Minister Zoran Zaev and Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze in separate congratulatory messages wished success of the new government of Bangladesh.

A delegation of Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission led by its Chairman handed over BERC’s annual report 2017-18 to Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury at her office yesterday. Accepting the report the Speaker said, the government under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is committed to reaching electricity to every house across the country.

State Minister for Religious Affairs Advocate Sheikh Md. Abdullah has said, the cost of Hajj pilgrims would not increase this year as the government fixed maximum cost for hajj package at Tk. 4,18,516. The State Minister told this at a press briefing at his ministry in Dhaka yesterday. He also said, although the Saudi government has imposed various charges on hajj pilgrims this year, considering the rise in the charges the total amount of hajj was supposed to be increased, but it has not been increased so far.

The foreign office has summoned Islamabad’s Acting High Commissioner in Dhaka and lodged a strong protest against derogatory comments posted in a Pakistani government website involving Bangladesh and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Foreign Ministry in Dhaka summoned the Pakistani Envoy yesterday and handed him a strongly worded protest note, expressing its discontent over the issue.

The Election Commission has accepted the nomination papers of all 49 aspirants for women reserved seats in the 11th Jatiya Sangsad. Among 50 reserved seats, AL will get 43, Jatiya Party 4, Workers Party one and independent candidate one.
