Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said, bilateral relations between Bangladesh and India have appeared as a role model of good neighbourliness for the rest of the world. The PM said this while jointly inaugurating four projects with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi through a videoconference yesterday. The Indian Prime Minister said, the bilateral relations between the two countries stood on a solid foundation during the previous tenures of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
President Md. Abdul Hamid has prorogued the maiden session of the 11th Jatiya Sangsad yesterday. Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury read out the prorogation order after valedictory speech by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in which the Leader of the House said, her government favours a strong opposition in parliament.
President Md. Abdul Hamid has expressed his satisfaction over the quick disposal of cases in the Supreme Court. The appreciation came as a delegation of Supreme Court judges led by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain called on the President at Bangabhaban yesterday.
Information Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud has said, all television channels of Bangladesh will take initiative to broadcast through Bangabandhu Satellite-1 within May 12 marking the anniversary of launching of the country's maiden satellite. The Minister said this to the reporters after holding a meeting with the members of Association of Television Channel Owners in his ministry yesterday. The Minister also informed that the government would take necessary steps against the persons involved in airing local advertisements in foreign television channels.

Foreign Minister Dr. A K Abdul Momen has expressed heartfelt condolence and deepest grief to the bereaved families of victims of Ethiopian Airlines crash on Sunday that left 157 dead from different countries including Ethiopia. Dr. Momen sent a condolence message to his Ethiopian Counterpart yesterday.

Ministry of Cultural Affairs has taken elaborate programmes in all districts and upazilas of the country to celebrate 99th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children Day on March 17 with due respect and festivity. Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, who is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Singapore, now can walk slowly as his health condition has improved further. Mr Quader would be shifted from ICU to cabin today.
Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission yesterday hosted a public hearing on another round of proposed increase in gas transmission tariff. State-owned Gas Transmission Company Limited proposed to raise the transmission charge to Tk 0.56 per unit from the existing Tk 0.42 per unit.
Quota reformists' leader Nurul Haque Nur has been elected as the Vice-President of Dhaka University Central Students' Union while Bangladesh Chhatra League's General Secretary Golam Rabbani elected to the post of General Secretary in the DUCSU elections held yesterday. With Bangladesh Chhatra League taking the lead in the elections, 27 BCL candidates were elected VicePresidents and General Secretaries in 18 hall unions and 9 independent candidates elected VP and GS.
