Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inspected the 2nd Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner ‘Hangsabalaka’ of Biman Bangladesh Airlines at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka yesterday. The Premier went round different zones of the aircraft and talked to the officials of Biman. A munajat seeking continued peace, progress and prosperity of the nation was offered on the occasion.

Chief Election Commissioner K M Nurul Huda has warned of taking punitive action against those responsible for filing false complaints regarding the electoral process. The CEC made the caution while addressing a workshop of Electoral Inquiry Committee at Nirbachan Bhaban in Dhaka yesterday. The CEC instructed the field level election officials to follow the code of civil procedure to carry out their responsibilities.

A total of 543 candidates submitted petitions to the Election Commission till yesterday challenging the decisions of returning officers over the cancellation and acceptance of nomination papers to contest the 11th Parliamentary Election in December 30 next.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammed Nasim has said, the health sector of the country saw unprecedented success in the last ten years. All the credit goes to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The minister came up with the observations while addressing a press briefing on the success of his ministry in the last 10 years in Dhaka yesterday.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has ranked 26th on the Forbes list of 100 most powerful women in the world this year climbing four notches up from the last year’s position. US-based global business magazine Forbes published the list on Tuesday. The Premier was 30th in last year, 36th in 2016 and 59th in 2015.

Newly appointed US Ambassador to Bangladesh Earl R. Miller has paid rich tribute to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing floral wreaths at his portrait. The US envoy visited the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum in Dhaka to pay homage to Bangabandhu, according to US Embassy’s official facebook page yesterday.

A US General has profusely praised the Bangladesh military for its impressive record of achievements since it's very founding, saying the leadership and extensive participation of Bangladesh Army in the UN peacekeeping and peace support initiatives were acclaimed by the international community. US National Guard Bureau Vice Chief Lieutenant Gen. Daniel R. Hokanson said this while speaking at a reception marking the Armed Forces Day at Bangladesh Embassy in Washington DC.

Bangladesh has strongly protested Myanmar’s recent anti-Bangladesh and racist remarks saying Myanmar’s such remarks are unacceptable that hurt the sentiment of Muslims. Myanmar Ambassador in Dhaka Lwin Oo was called at the office of Maritime Affairs Unit Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Rear Admiral M Khurshed Alam (Retd.) yesterday to lodge the protest. Myanmar’s Religious Affairs and Culture Minister Thura Aung Ko on Tuesday said Rohingyas living in Bangladesh are being 'brainwashed' and Bangladesh is not allowing them to return.
