Bangladesh High Commission, London has celebrated Armed Forces Day on 21 November 2017 at Delegation Lounge of International Maritime Organization 4 Albert Embankment, Lambeth, London. Bangladesh Armed Forces was established during our liberation war in 1971. After the historic speech of 7 th March 1971 by our Father of the Nation Bangoli officers and troops serving in Pakistan Forces were getting ready entally to react against any upcoming atrocities. During the massacre of Pakistan occupation Forces on the unarmed civilian, police, paramilitary and Bengoli officers and troop, father of the nation declared independence is on 25 March 1971 midnight. The police, paramilitary and Armed Forces personnel revolted against the occupation forces atrocities and went out of the garrisons and started guerrilla warfare isolated. On 17 April 1971 Bangladesh provincial government was established keeping Father of the Nation as president and Md Tazuddin Ahmed as Prime Minister. Chief of Armed Forces Col (Retd) MAG Osmani started organizing the Armed Forces thereafter. The whole Bangladesh was divided into 11 Sector. Sertorial battle were fought across the country. In the mid June 1971 3 bdes were established and Forces were more organized. On 21 November 1971, in this vary day combined attack on the occupied forces was launched by Army, Navy, Air Force along with our civilian Freedom Fighters. From then onwards with the direct support of allied forces specially Indian Armed Forces we could defeat Pakistani Forces and got an Independent country Bangladesh. Bangladesh celebrates Armed Forces Day every year where Armed Forces Officers, Freedom Fighters, Politician, Civilian officials and people from all walks of life gathers together in the nearby cantonment and bases to remember the day with respect.
